The AR solution consists of augmented reality glasses (HoloLens 2 from Microsoft), the software platform „Sound HUB“ and individual modules with which the Sound HUB can be expanded as needed.

The Sound Intensity Module allows sound intensity measurements to be performed at discrete measurement positions according to DIN EN ISO 9614 1 and using a scan path according to DIN EN ISO 9614-3.

The Excel Coordinate Viewer module also allows measurements according to the DIN EN ISO 374x series of standards, as the measurement positions can be selected individually. However, standard-independent measurement setups and factory-internal ones can also be configured without any problems. This makes the Excel Coordinate Viewer extremely versatile.

  • Time savings of up to 80 % compared to conventional measuring methods due to visualization of the measurement setup
  • The measurement positions no longer have to be measured by hand
  • No auxiliary constructions influencing the physical and sound field
  • Measurement of objects of almost any size possible

Module 1: Local SI Module

The central object of the Local SI Module is the display of a virtual test setup, which is displayed by data glasses. After entering the dimensions of the test object, the goggles automatically calculate the standard-compliant measurement positions in a matter of seconds. The time-consuming measurement of the measuring positions is now a thing of the past. Once the measurement is complete, the results can be displayed directly on the test object using a sound field map.

The Sound HUB in combination with the Local SI Module is ideally suited for almost all areas of technical acoustics:

  • Sound intensity and sound power measurements according to standard series 9614 1 and 3
  • Machine acoustic investigations
  • Detection of acoustic leaks and development of countermeasures

Module 2: Excel Coordinate Viewer

The Excel Coordinate Viewer module makes it possible to display measurement positions in space with just one click. For this purpose, these positions are entered into an Excel spreadsheet in the form of simple X,Y,Z coordinates. By clicking on the HoloMetrix button, these are sent to the HoloLens 2 via Bluetooth.

The AR glasses receive the position data and automatically display them in space. The measurement points are aligned with a local target (coordinate system), which is placed near the measurement location. This enables fast and precise measurement preparation.

Module 3: Sound Intensity

The Sound Intensity module automatically transfers data from the measurement software on the PC (ArtemiS SUITE) to the augmented reality glasses (HoloLens 2). For the configuration of the test setup, the data input is first done comfortably on the PC. By clicking on the „Connect to Hololens“ button, the parameters are sent to the data glasses via Bluetooth and displayed as a virtual test setup on the real test object. The time-consuming process of finding the correct measurement positions is therefore a thing of the past from now on.
